About MCSF

Welcome to the homepage of the Mid-Columbia Science Fair Association (MCSF Association).  The MCSF Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization which exists to organize and hold the Mid-Columbia Regional Science and Engineering Fair.  We are the oldest science fair in the state and this effort is 100% performed by volunteers and is funded by generous organizations and individuals (please view our list of sponsors and let them know you appreciate their generosity).

The MCSF Association works with Teachers and Students of Mid-Columbia area of Washington state, with the students conducting their chosen research project.  Each year we hold the Mid-Columbia Regional Science and Engineering Fair during the second Thursday through Saturday of March.  Our regional fair brings together hundreds of students from Eastern Washington and surrounding areas who get a chance to show off their scientific prowess to our judges and the public for learning, fun and awards.

The fair is open to any student, grades 6 through 12, in the Central Washington region (Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Okanogan, Walla Walla, and Yakima Counties).  For details about the fair, display dates, and awards ceremony, please see the Schedule & Maps page.

After participating in the Mid-Columbia Science Fair, students may choose to also participate in WSSEF, the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair. Students who are interested in participating in WSSEF should complete the “Promotion to WSSEF” milestone in their STEM Wizard account. After the fair, the MCSF Fair Director will electronically promote their projects to WSSEF through Stem Wizard. Students will receive notification when this occurs.
