MCSF Homepage

Welcome to the homepage of the Mid-Columbia Science Fair Association (MCSF Association).  The MCSF Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization which exists to organize and hold the Mid-Columbia Regional Science and Engineering Fair.  We are the oldest science fair in the state of Washington and operate with 100% volunteer time and effort.  The MCSF Association works with teachers and students of the Mid-Columbia area of Washington state, with the students conducting their chosen research project.  Projects entered into the regional fair are judged by professionals in applicable fields and are publicly displayed.

Updates for 2026:

  • Middle School Teams Division We will have a Middle School Teams Division this year! Teams can have 2 or 3 students from grades 6-8.
    • This will be a separate division from the grade-level middle school divisions for individual projects.
    • To avoid needing SRC pre-approval, team projects cannot have human participants or hazardous chemicals and devices.
    • If Team projects involve bacteria, they must use the K-12 strain of E. coli from Carolina Biological Supply.
  • Project In A Box We will be continuing our Project In Box Program this year. This program is designed to introduce 6th graders to the Mid-Columbia Science and Engineering Fair. Click here for the 2026 Project In a Box flyer. Email director@midcolumbiasciencefair.org for more information or if you’d like to sign up for a box.
  • To align with ISEF’s new requirements, all photos, graphics, and graphs on your display board must be individually captioned. Click here for a detailed explanation with examples.
